The Client.

Happy Sheep Cottages are two small, luxury holiday cottages in the Yorkshire Dales. Designed for guests looking for a peaceful, high-end countryside escape, the brand needed to reflect both comfort and quality while still feeling personal and full of rustic charm.

We worked with them to create a full brand identity from scratch, setting the foundations for their wider marketing and website.

The Challenge.

Starting from scratch can go either way. With no existing brand in place, the challenge was turning a simple idea into something with real character and consistency.

The client needed more than just a logo. Everything had to connect, from visual identity through to how the brand would appear across print and digital. It also needed to feel not overdesigned or overly corporate, while still reflecting the high-quality of the cottages.

Getting that balance right early on was key, as the branding would directly shape the look and feel of the website that followed.

The Strategy.

We started with a client consultation and asked them to fill out a keywords questionnaire, cleverly designed to get a feel of what they thought their brand was. We created two full concepts giving the client clear creative directions to choose what reflected their brand values best.

From there, we developed a complete branding package, including typefaces, colour palette, business cards, letterhead, email signature and a simple brand guideline to keep everything consistent.

Once the branding was complete, the logo style was carried through into the website design. This included a set of hand-drawn illustrations of the cottages and sheep, all based on the chosen logo style. A nice touch here was that these were drawn by the son of a member of the team, adding something genuinely personal to the finished site while keeping everything visually consistent.

The Results.

The final brand feels cohesive, considered and true to the experience Happy Sheep Cottages offers.

It gives the business a clear and confident identity across every touchpoint, from first impression through to booking. It also laid the groundwork for a website that carries that same personality through.

The end result avoids the usual “safe” look often seen in holiday cottage branding. Instead, it feels warm, recognisable and full of character, helping the business stand out for the right reasons.
